Culture also improves the financial health of the NHS. It is estimated that heritage visits have saved £200million through a reduction in GP and psychotherapy appointments.

As representatives of culture in County Durham, it’s important that we are as representative of our cultural community as possible. We always welcome new members, perspectives and ideas.
The beauty of our coastline, hills and dales and out remarkable city, together with our Christian heritage, our history of hard and dangerous work in mines, in engineering, at sea and in farming communities, is celebrated and remembered through our art, theatre, music, museums and events.

A catalyst, we can help potential partners and collaborators, including community groups, local authorities, government departments, hospital trusts, schools and colleges or charities to engage with cultural providers and organisations to develop and deliver impactful projects that change lives.
